In May of 2004 the Notre Dame New Learning Community was launched . The community establishments are:

St. Peter’s Primary School
Anderson Street Nursery School
Sandy Road Day Nursery
The aims of the community are :
Raising Attainment for all children and young people
The learning community will focus on improving children’s readiness to make the transition from pre-5 to primary and from primary to secondary. The community will also focus on enhancing access to ICT and exploring how to make learners more effective.
Promoting positive health and active lifestyles in young people.
The community will focus on practical strategies to raise the profile of healthy eating and exercise and fitness.
Dealing with Social and Health issues which impact on the development of children and young people
The newly formed Child Support Team will focus on this priority
Promoting Values and Citizenship education for children and young people
Learning Community establishments will explore additional curricular opportunities to develop qualities of citizenship in our young people.
